Alternative Transportation Use
Being environmentally conscious, we wish to go beyond encouraging energy-efficient homes to modes of transportation, specifically alternative transportation use. Let’s face the facts -your average car is not fuel-efficient and completely disturbs the environment. Do you need evidence? Take a look at the smog that continuously coats the Los Angeles air. The signs are right in front of our eyes – and are screaming that pollution is harmful. However, alternative transportation use can drastically reduce the environmental harm.
There are a wide variety of transportation methods that are better for the environment! The most obvious alternative transportation use involves carpooling; however, there are many other methods of transportation that are better for the environment. Bicycles are great for those with short commutes—not only are you exercising, but your bicycle lacks an exhaust! However, for longer commutes other methods must be explored.
Carpooling is a great way to minimize the negative environmental impact as a result of excess car usage; however, using biodiesel fuels (vegetable-based) and hybrid cars do more to reduce the pollution. Imagine how our environment with look if everyone used hybrid cars and carpooled? We would bet money on the fact that the smog covering most major cities would be noticeably different.
In the end, alternative transportation use could reduce the pollution and environmental harm by eliminating the use of your typical gasoline. As electric and hydrogen vehicles continue to be available, more environmentally-safe options are available to get you to your desired destination. However, at the very least we feel that riding a bicycle, carpooling, and public transportation could at least cut down on the pollution. We are calling on you to explore alternative transportation use in an effort to do your part to combat mass pollution and help save the environment. Plus, not only are you helping the environment but you are saving money as well—that’s an incentive we can stand behind!
